Christopher O.H. Williams is the President of African Leadership University, with responsibility to lead the undergraduate campuses in Mauritius and Rwanda and the graduate School of Business based in Rwanda.
Christopher joined ALU after a 20+-year career leading and driving transformation with some of the world’s best-known companies and brands. He is an experienced global executive who has held senior roles in Strategy, Corporate Finance, Brand Management, Sales and General Management and advised executive leaders and start-ups across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
In his most recent experiences he was Senior Vice President of Sales Strategy and Business Development for adidas Europe; Senior Vice President of Global Sales Strategy; Global Head of Key Cities (Paris, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles); and Global Co-head of Brand Leadership, adidas’ new operating model.
He also worked at VF Corporation as Vice President of Strategy for Jeanswear Americas and at Nike Inc. as Head of Strategy of Nike Global Operations; Head of Strategy for Nike USA Footwear; and Commercial Director of Nike Malaysia.
His other previous appointments include roles in Strategy, Brand Management and Corporate Treasury at Gap Inc, and in Corporate Finance and Equities Sales & Trading at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Lehman Brothers Inc.
He is a former Executive-in-Residence at ALU who has also pursued a lifelong passion for education. He sat on the board of a high school for at-risk youth in San Francisco and has guest lectured at universities in the United States and Europe. Until he took up his appointment at ALU he was an Executive-in-Residence at European School of Management and Technology Berlin in Germany.
Christopher earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts and a BA in Economics from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he graduated with Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude and Omicron Delta Epsilon honors.
He and his wife and two young children live in Mauritius.
