Maya Khonje-Stewart is Managing Director of Maeve and has over 10 years work experience in the private and NGO sector of Malawi. Maya is skilled in business development, sales and logistics, project management, budgeting and negotiation. With a passion for environmental preservation, Maya has promoted fuel efficient technologies across Malawi and is an advocate and lobbyist for renewable energy. Most of her projects are linked to carbon finance for sustainability with over one million credits generated over the last few years. She has developed different marketing strategies for improved cookstoves and solar products that have seen significant rise in demand over the last 7 years across Malawi.
Maya was actively involved in the development of the new Malawi Energy Strategy for 2018 which has evolved to be more realistic towards the needs of the majority population of Malawi who depend on biomass for their cooking and heating needs. She is also a director in several businesses in the agriculture sector of Malawi and sits on several boards including Nexus for Development, Environment Africa, and Rotary Club of Lilongwe. Maya now invests in Malawian and regional start up solar and cookstove businesses in her mission to meet the last mile demand whilst towards the vision of no one left behind.
